How to Care for Your Beaded Handbag
Beaded bags do not need an elaborate care routine. They do need space, dry storage and a little attention to what touches them. The guidance below applies across the Marelune collection; always check the individual product page when a specific material or finish calls for different care.
Before carrying it
Handle the bag with clean, dry hands. Let hand cream, sunscreen and perfume dry before picking it up, and never spray fragrance directly near the surface. Beads, shell discs, wood and metal-toned components do not all react in the same way, so prevention is safer than experimenting later.
Check the handle, strap and closure before leaving. If a section appears loose or damaged, set the bag aside rather than pulling, trimming or gluing it at home.
While you are out
Keep the bag away from rain, spills and wet surfaces. Avoid rough stone, unfinished wood and crowded hooks where the beadwork could rub or catch. A chair, your lap or your shoulder is a better place for it than the floor.
Do not overfill a compact or structured design. Hard objects and sharp-edged cases can press against the construction from the inside. An open-weave bag, including the Mira Open-Weave Wooden Bead Tote, also benefits from a small pouch that keeps loose items together.
If the bag gets wet
Blot surface moisture gently with a clean, soft, dry cloth. Do not scrub and do not use direct heat. Leave the bag to dry naturally in a ventilated place, away from strong sunlight. For a significant stain or spill, stop and seek material-specific advice rather than using a household cleaner.
Cleaning: less is safer
For routine dust, use a very soft, dry cloth with light pressure. Avoid abrasive brushes, alcohol, bleach, detergent and general-purpose sprays. The Crystal Beaded Crescent Shoulder Bag has a woven beaded exterior, while the Iridescent Shell Disc Mini Bag has layered shell discs. A single improvised cleaning method should not be assumed safe for both.
Store it without pressure
Empty the bag after wear. Place it in a dust bag or soft pouch, with handles and straps resting in their natural position. Keep it somewhere cool and dry where heavier items cannot press against it. Do not force an open, fringed or sculptural shape into a narrow box.
Pack it separately for travel
Keep the bag inside its pouch and away from shoes, toiletry bottles, zippers and other hard edges. Place it between soft layers rather than at the bottom of a full suitcase. Liquids belong in a separate sealed bag.
